Earlier this afternoon, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) received multiple calls reporting that an adult male was standing on the outside of the overpass bridge of Palm Coast Parkway and I-95 and threatening to jump. The subject himself also had called and stated he was going to jump off the overpass.

Deputies shut down Palm Coast Parkway and I-95 in both directions, re-routing traffic as multiple agencies responded, including the FCSO Crisis Negotiations Team, Palm Coast Fire Department, and Florida Highway Patrol.

The male advised he did not want to speak with any female deputies. With the assistance of the Palm Coast Fire Department’s Ladder Truck, he was eventually assisted from the overpass and into a lift, where he was secured. He was placed under the Baker Act and was transported for further medical evaluations.

“I hope he gets the help he needs,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “The quick response and combined efforts of FCSO deputies, Crisis Negotiators, the Communication Center, and Fire Rescue saved a life today. I’m proud of the team effort.”
