With the Primaries and early voting right around the corner, we sent out questions to all the local candidates running for local offices in Flagler County and Palm Coast. Below you can read our questions in bold followed by Bill Clark’s answers.
- Economic development is a subject many are concerned about. With the rising cost of living in Flagler County, and few options for work within the county, how do you plan to combat this issue if elected?I decided to run for office because I am very concerned about the direction Flagler County is going with its large developments and oversight process to ensure responsible and sustainable growth. The small-town charm so many of us moved here for should be retained. After attending many county meetings and feeling my concerns had not been heard, I knew I had to run for office. I have not been endorsed by any specialty groups; I will be the people’s candidate and accountable to Flagler County residents.
- With the Primaries right around the corner, what would you like to inform voters of, when it comes to remembering you at the polls?I am running for County Commissioner District 3, and I am an America First candidate. I have years of experience in business and a Master’s in Accountancy, and I am retired; thus, if elected, I will be working full-time to represent Flagler County Residents.
- Environmental conservation has become one of the top concerns among residents in light of all the recent development projects. How are you working to balance the need for growth with the conservation of the environment in Flagler County?
I lived in the Orlando area back in the 80s, it was a beautiful area to live in, with minimal congestion, many green areas, abundant wildlife, and the quality of life was good. That is gone, and everyone I know has moved out of the area. I don’t want to see that happen to Flagler. I purchased my home in Flagler Beach in 2010 because I was attracted to the small-town charm of Old Florida, the dense green areas, and the 3-story beach moratorium. - Many residents are concerned about electing people to office with ties to the real estate and development communities, what ties to those industries do you have?
- I am retired from business and would be able to work full-time serving the residents.
- Taxes are a large concern as well among residents in the county, what plans do you have to mitigate the tax burden on residents in Flagler County?I want to support our small business community while ensuring no frivolous tax increases by using responsible government oversight. One of my goals is to facilitate county and private land purchases and perpetual easements.
- What are some accomplishments you have had in the Flagler County Community that you are proud of? What qualifies you to hold the seat? My background in business, and my education in Accountancy.
- You are running against Kim Carney, Nicholas Klufas, and Write in Jose Fabinai; what makes you stand out amongst the crowd? Why should voters choose you at the polls? If elected, I will work with fellow commissioners to support ideas and strategies to preserve the “Old Florida” we love and to keep our small-town charm while growing responsibly.
