Hershey is a dog who years ago was surrendered to the local shelter. She soon became a volunteer and staff favorite before being adopted out. When she was originally surrendered, she was unable to stop crying and shaking, and Caroline Johnson, spent two hours holding her to provide comfort. Hershey is estimated to be roughly five years old. Recently, her adoptive family was unable to continue to keep her, and she was 1 week away from being surrendered to the shelter again. Her adoptive family was unable to find a home or rental that would allow them to keep a large breed animal, thus requiring them to find her a new home.
Marla Newman Budde stepped up to give Hershey her forever home, keeping her from being surrendered to the shelter yet again. Hershey has headed to her new home, and is now living a life of love, fun and comfort with her new family. Marla met with Hershey and SMART, and the connection was amazing. Hershey will continue on living in a loving environment, having found her forever home, showing that the 3rd time really is the charm.
