On Sunday, May 5, 2024, at approximately 6:38 p.m. Officers from the Flagler Beach Police Department along with Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident that occurred just blocks away from the Flagler Beach Police Department. One (1) male victim, eighteen (18) years of age,
was transported, via ambulance, to a local hospital. The victim’s injuries at this time do not appear to be life threatening. His name is not being released at this time.

“I’d like to thank Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly for the timely response last night by the men and women of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and for their continued assistance with this ongoing investigation” stated Chief Matt Doughney.

This case has assigned to Flagler Beach Police Detective Rosanna Vinci, and she’s being assisted by Investigators from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit. Chief Doughney continued by stating that “At this time we’re in the process of collecting video evidence from multipole sources, and we’re interviewing additional witnesses. We’re asking anyone with information, to include cell phone video related to
the shooting to contact the Flagler Beach Police Department, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-800-277-TIPS (1-800-277- 8477). This case is still an active, ongoing investigation.

Chief Doughney concluded by stating “This shooting easily could have resulted in the loss of a human life, and it should serve as a solemn reminder that even small towns like Flagler Beach are not immune to incidents of violence. I’m very proud of the response by our Officers here in Flagler Beach, along with the response from our partners at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. This unfortunate incident was an extremely chaotic scene last night, and I’m confident that the Detective and Investigators working this active case will put all of the puzzle pieces together”.
