The City of Palm Coast proudly announces its recognition as a Tree City USA for the 19th consecutive year, an honor bestowed by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This prestigious award acknowledges Palm Coast’s steadfast commitment to effective urban forestry management and environmental stewardship.

Achieving the Tree City USA designation requires a city to meet stringent standards, including maintaining a tree board or department, establishing a community tree ordinance, investing at least $2 per capita in urban forestry, and hosting an annual Arbor Day celebration. These standards ensure communities are dedicated to growing and maintaining their public trees and green spaces, fostering a healthier environment.

In celebration of this continuous recognition and to foster greater community involvement, Palm Coast is hosting an Arbor Day event on May 4th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Central Park in Town Center, 975 Central Ave. The event is free to the public and will feature various family-friendly activities. Highlights include a native butterfly release at 11 a.m., a butterfly tent, and goodie bags for kids. Refreshments and products from local vendors will be available for purchase.

Palm Coast is also launching an Arbor Day Photo Contest to capture memorable moments from the event. Residents can submit up to three photos by midnight on May 8, 2024, to win prizes.

Carol Mini, Urban Forester for the City of Palm Coast, stated, “We are honored once again to be recognized as a Tree City USA. This distinction reflects our community’s commitment to nurturing and expanding green spaces. We look forward to celebrating this achievement with our residents at the annual Arbor Day event and hope to see everyone there.”
