In the weeks leading up to Christmas, a silent TikTok fan of the Cupcake Café, donated a total of $3,900 to pay for holiday orders. The follower wishes to remain anonymous. It started on December 16th, 2023, when the anonymous donor called Theresa Tazewell, owner of the Cupcake Café, and donated a total of $700 to pay for orders in the shop that day. The gesture had sparked a cascade event, inspiring other followers to call in and pay for orders.
Following this, the anonymous donor called again, and donated another $700 to pay for the cupcake jars that Theresa ships all over the country. The donor also decided that she was going to pay for all of the orders placed on Christmas Eve.
The donor called in and asked Theresa for the grand total for all of her Christmas orders, which was a staggering $2,500. The donor paid the total, meaning that not one customer on Christmas Eve paid for their order. This act of kindness reached roughly 75-100 customers according to Theresa.
“There wasn’t a dry eye, we were crying all day. The feeling that we felt all day, was incredible. This feels so good. You have no idea how good we feel right now. It was so overwhelming. For this woman to do this for my business is just amazing. We had a line out the door on Christmas Eve, and no one paid,” Theresa explained to us.
We reached out to one customer who was blessed not once, not twice but three times by this very anonymous donor, Linda Fields. Linda had been blessed by this donor on Saturday the 16th, and decided to bring her friend in to experience the Cupcake Café. While Fields and her friend were in the store, a door dasher was being blessed with cupcakes but didn’t speak English. Fields friend was able to translate and witness the pure joy this man had when he finally understood that the dozen cupcakes were his and not an order to be delivered. Fields was also blessed again, on Christmas Eve when her cake was paid for by the anonymous donor. “I was so overwhelmed, I started crying each time. I was completely shocked, it was so emotional.”
We reached out to the anonymous donor, who stated that, “I have been a regular follower of Theresa for 8 months now. I was a caregiver for my mom, who recently passed and it hit me hard. Theresa and her TikTok lives every Saturday and Tuesday are what brought me out of the depression I was in. Christmas is about love, it is about giving, and I wanted to do this in my mother’s honor. I wanted to bless Theresa’s business and her customers, and let them all know that they are loved.”
