December 5th, 2023, at 6pm, the City of Palm Coast held their evening business meeting. Residents came out to speak out about the new builds causing flooding, a desire for a forensic audit, traffic issues and many other issues. The meeting included topics like the approval of the Plan Our Parks study, the Old Kings Village Comprehensive Plan changes and the Rezoning of the Old Kings Village.
During the first presentation, the council heard a short summary of the Plan Our Parks study and survey. After hearing the survey the public was able to state their position on the subject. Many families stood up talking about the needs they have for sport fields, lights and maintenance. The council voted to approve the Plan Our Parks master plan.
The Old Kings Village comprehensive plan public hearing came before the council for the first read during the meeting. The original Flagler County PUD contained plans for 232 residential dwellings and 30,000 sq. ft. of commercial space. Pontieri shared her concerns about annexing land from the County and then changing the plans, as it would affect the County’s neighboring properties. During public comment on the matter many of the Polo Club West residents stood up to state their asks again. They wanted to see a 25 ft. buffer, that doesn’t encroach on their property. They want to ensure the preservation of the Polo Club West, Old Kings Road, and neighboring developments in the area, and they want to see limits on the commercial space in the development. During the discussion between Chimento, the Polo Club’s attorney and council members it was decided the matter would be tabled until the January 2nd meeting of 2024. The council voted to table the matter, and then moved on to table the matter of the Old Kings Village rezoning to January 2nd, 2024 as well.
