origin

Flagler County Land Management is hosting the sixth in its limited guided tour series (limited in the number of participants and frequency) called a “A Walk in the Park in the Woods.”

This tour takes place at 9 a.m. sharp on December 12 at MalaCompra Park and is limited to eight (8) registrants. Participants who register – and sign the two waivers: liability and photo/video release – will meet at the park that is located at 115 MalaCompra Road off State Road A1A.

“The difficulty level is mostly easy – most trails are hard packed, though there may be some soft-sand areas near the beach,” said Forestry Supervisor Ralph Risch. “Binoculars will be useful, as we will see a lot of cool birds.”

Please contact Risch with questions or concerns: rrisch@flaglercounty.gov or 386-313-4269.

Those who are participating should:

  • Expect a two-hour hike over uneven ground
  • Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes
  • Bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent
  • Bring binoculars

Additional recommendations include:

  • Bring a hat and raincoat
  • Bring a trail snack
