July 13, 2023 – As efforts continue on the first segment of the FEMA emergency dune project, Jungle Hut Park is being added as a simultaneous beach access point on July 17 (Monday) for the contractor, limiting access at that park for about two weeks. Old Salt Park, 16th Road in The Hammock, closed on July 5 for the six-week duration of this segment of the project.
“There will be about 20 dump trucks per day operating from Jungle Hut, which is a relatively small amount compared to the main project access at Old Salt Park,” said County Engineer Faith Alkhatib. “Sand will be delivered to the beach between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for two weeks.”
The park will remain open to the public, but beachgoers are asked to be alert and take caution during this time – especially families with young children and pets.
“We apologize for any inconvenience to our residents and visitors who love to visit our beaches, especially during the summer,” said County Administrator Heidi Petito. “This work is critical for all of Flagler County, and we appreciate everyone’s continued patience.”
