Unincorporated Flagler County residents have new solid waste collection schedule effective June 1

May 31, 2023 – Unincorporated Flagler County residents will have a new solid waste collection schedule that becomes effective June 1. The county updated its webpage – https://www.flaglercounty.gov/departments/solid-waste – to easily and efficiently provide the new information. “The Flagler County Solid Waste Division contracts with Waste Pro to collect household waste, recyclables, and yard waste for the unincorporated areas in the county,” said General Services Director Mike Dickson. “Ultimately, things will run more smoothly, but it will affect a small percentage of the unincorporated Flagler County population.” The collection of garbage and recyclables within the municipalities is managed by each city agency, with…

Flagler Sheriff’s Office Makes 5 DUI Arrests ad 25 Total Arrests Over Memorial Day Weekend

This last weekend, May 26th, 2023 through May 29th, 2023, was a busy weekend for the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. They made a total of 25 arrests, five of which were DUI arrests, made 165 traffic stops and handled 884 calls for service. “It was a busy holiday weekend for our Deputy Sheriffs,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Our units were busy catching poison peddlers while keeping our streets and waters safe from drunk drivers and captains. On Saturday May 27, City of Palm Coast Public Works Department hosted the third annual ‘Sky’s the Limit’ Touch-a-Truck event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Town Center. Today, May 29th, 2023, for Memorial Day, the City of Palm Coast hosted a Memorial Ceremony to honor the fallen soldiers, firefighters, and law enforcement.  The ceremony was attended by Sheriff Staly, the Palm Coast Fire Chief, Leann Pennington, Ed Danko, Gold Star Families, and many more.  The community came out to honor the memory of the fallen. The Ceremony was intended to remind the community that today is a day of remembrance, to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. The Good Girls Initiative is a newer non-profit that started in Volusia County, and now they are trying to help girls in Flagler County Schools. Improvement Update on Waterfront Park

Waterfront Park is currently under construction and progress is steadily moving along as contractors install a concrete boat access ramp and a floating dock launch pad. Eric Gebo, the Stormwater and Engineering Architect for the City of Palm Coast gave a short update on the project. He explained the changes of the site, and the upcoming phase. Currently the concrete ramp and floating dock are being installed. The coquina revetment, which protects the shoreline, has already been finished. Next phase will be the completion of the sidewalk and landscaping. The project is currently on time to be completed in mid-August…
