The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) received a delayed sex offense complaint in December 2022 that involved two minors and a relative. The allegations were assigned to the FCSO Major Case Unit (MCU) detectives for investigation. The suspect, Gabriel Figueroa, who is now 18 but was still a minor at the time of the incidents, was found to have sexually abused a relative multiple times between 2015 and 2019 and to have lasciviously displayed his genitals to another in 2020. Figueroa admitted to his crimes through the use of investigative techniques.
A warrant for Figueroa’s arrest was issued on February 8, 2023, for the charges of Sexual Battery (Offender Under 18/Victim Under 12; Life Felony) and Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition (Offender under the age of 18 or Victim under the age of 16; 3rd-degree felony) was decided by the Honorable Judge France with the help of Assistant State Attorney Clark.
Figueroa was peacefully detained at his residence on February 8, 2023, by members of the FCSO MCU and Problem Area Crime Enforcement (PACE) Unit. The Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility was where Figueroa was taken.
“Thankfully this pervert will not be able to harm anyone else or his relatives anymore. Thank you to FCSO MCU, PACE, and the State Attorney’s Office for assisting us in the investigation and arrest of this man and Judge France for setting a high bond,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I commend the braveness of the victims to come forward and I hope this arrest helps them heal from the trauma this pervert caused and brings some closure to them knowing he is being held accountable for his crimes and can’t hurt them or anyone else again.”
