On Monday January 30th, FCSO received a call from the Days Inn, 120 Garden St. N. when a citizen was concerned about a couple spray painting a semi in the parking lot.
When the FCSO arrived the male and female suspects fled into the woods. The female was apprehended after a short foot chase, and the male was apprehended after hiding in the woods for over 2 hours.
After further investigation the semi was found to have been stolen from Columbia County, Florida. The suspets, Dayanly Cutino Gonzalez and Reiner Larazo Perez, where in the process of repainting the pink semi in an effort to conceal it. The semi was valued at $280,000.
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest Without Violence, Grand Theft – Motor Vehicle, and Felony Criminal Mischief, she was later released on a $13,500 bond.
Perez was arrested and charged Resisting Arrest Without Violence, Grand Theft – Motor Vehicle, Felony Criminal Mischief, POssession of a Removed Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and Possession of Fentanyl.
“Thanks to another concerned citizen calling after ‘See Something, Say Something’ our deputies were
able to catch two thieves and recover a stolen semi and return it to its rightful owner,” said Sheriff Rick
Staly. “They also get selected as the dumb criminals of the week award for thinking they could spray
paint a semi in a hotel parking lot and not be noticed! Remember, if you are a criminal don’t come to
