UPDATE: 21-Year-Old Volusia County Man Arrested for December 19th Armed Robbery of Mobil Gas Station in Palm Coast

UPDATE: Collin Calvert, the suspect in the December 19th armed robbery of Pine Lakes Parkway Mobil gas station in Palm Coast, was sentenced for his crimes in court this week. Calvert was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison, followed by 5 years of probation for his role in the Flagler County armed robbery and another case in Volusia which was related. Calvert was adjudicated guilty on all the charges in both counties. In Flagler those charges were: Robbery with a Firearm. December 29, 2022 – Flagler’s strategic planning process has come full circle in one year’s time. County Administrator Heidi Petito kicked off the new process in November 2021 with a day-long collaborative planning session for department heads. The FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia was where the National Sheriff's Institute held their Jail Administration course. Sheriff Staly was one of only 22 sheriffs invited to attend in the Nation.  It was an invitation only course and was provided by the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), U.S. Department of Justice, collaborating with the Major County Sheriffs of America;  there was no cost to the Flagler taxpayers. After two inmates attempted to hang themselves earlier this month, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office detention staff saved a third inmate from suicide at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. An inmate of the SPHIDF knocked on the main door of the Oscar housing block on December 16, 2022, around 5:21 p.m., telling detention staff that another inmate of the housing block was attempting to hang himself. Robert W. Orr was re-arrested on Wednesday night (December 14, 2022) by Flagler County Sheriffs Office's Major Case Unit on nine extra lawful offense allegations. Orr was accused of five extra counts of video voyeurism, as well as four extra counts of unlawful utilization of a two-way specialized gadget. Since then, he has paid $45,000 in bail and been released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. As far back as 2018, FCSO has identified at least four total victims. Flagler County residents who suffered impacts from both Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Nicole will be required to submit separate disaster assistance applications, per federal policy. Application deadlines for Ian are approaching in mid-January.
